Baby Food: To acquire or To Make?
Just like I did so a few months ago, many moms in existence ( including yourself!) can be wondering what things to feed your infant: homemade food or food pouches/jars?
I haven't got the perfect answer on the other hand will have a reply that produces sense to me here is why...
I began having an ambition to skip packaged baby food altogether and be the trooper mom who feeds her child fresh, pureed fruits and vegetables. Even as we dived deeper into the weeks of solids, I noticed how unrealistic this goal is, to me. We started buying organic pouches mostly by Plum, Sprout and Ella's. I, of course, loved yet still love how convenient they are. Unscrew the cap, squeeze and serve, awesome!
I probably looked over the constituents of the those pouches (which i bought) and boost the comfort there's nothing scary combined with them. They generally do contain the foods which they state they contain apart from once they state "beans" and also there's bean flour mixed in or rice just as soon as again they have got added rice flour to your mix. The ingredient list order reflects foods in line with the amount; the very best being number available one and the like. So this is all good and dandy until...
Before you purchase a packaged food for the food featured upon it such as quinoa or chicken. The pouch will voice it out contains them and sure it can but you are somewhere across the ingredient list. Primary within the ingredient list is generally a fruit or even a vegetable that's cheap to obtain/produce and usually not too nutrient dense. How's that for the undoing of packaged foods.
Your second issue is the tastes. The foodstuff in the pouches and jars may taste okay but the tastes will not be real. The meals tastes like adult canned food which is expected but...
Think about the subsequent questions: Are these claims what you look for baby to taste constantly? Is it possible to say your infant likes yams when she had only tried the pouch kind? You be the judge. Cook some yams and mash them up and do a comparison while using packaged yam, significant difference.
Here's how I am going about packaged foods: I steal ideas from them!
I often consider the combinations that they have and then suggest my. For example, I frequently make broccoli with apples or kale with apples and carrots. Home made combinations taste much greater than the pouch foods. Yams, for instance, taste totally different compared to the pouched yams. So once more, shall we be held really introducing our babies to real tastes by feeding them mostly pre-made foods? I feel when I only used packaged food I'd personally somehow be cheating my daughter as the foods don't taste like whole, fresh produce. This may not be to convey never rely on them! I learned to generate a balance i ensure that my baby eats at least one hand made meal per day. I spend at some point weekly making baby food (about 3 hours) and i also make extra that we then freeze. I take advantage of the frozen meals within 1-2 weeks. I also stick enough inside fridge to last Three days. I personally use pouches when out and about or when baby goes toward spend the day at grandma's. It truly does work!
So to conclude, I feel that pouches must be utilized as a copy and real food may come first. That's my very own opinion along with the "dietitian in me" opinion. I believe it's very important to add real food from the comfort of first. It tastes different, it is more enjoyable, it's more whole and nutritious. It's got none or minimal processing.
